Formula for the perfect coffee

A group of mathematicians claim to have found the formula for the perfect cup of coffee. Research by Kevin Moroney and William Lee suggests that how one grinds beans in filter style machines is crucial to the taste.

The researchers say there are two processes from which coffee is extracted from beans – when it is taken from the surface of the grains and then when it comes from the interior of the grains. Grinding beans too finely can result in bitter coffee, so they recommend using the largest setting on grinders.
